January

It was decided to extend the voting procedure used in the Special Category to all categories. This was used at the 1999 Grand Anagrammy Awards.

A Leader Board was made available to view the scores during the competition.

A Long Spam Category was also added.


March

Richard Grantham was appointed Assistant Anagrammy Archivist.


April

Jon Gearhart resigned as Anagrammy Archivist and the position was filled by Richard Grantham.


May

It was decided that anagrams of 100 letters or more must be placed in one of the three categories reserved for long anagrams (Long, Long Spam, and Special Categories).

It was decided that there be a limit of three nominations per person allowed in the Special Category.


July

The Awardsmaster's Challenge was added as an occasional competition where the Awardsmaster presents a verse of a well-known poem to be anagrammed into another poem.


August

Name Category was renamed People's Names Category, and Place Name Category was renamed Other Names Category.
