An Alanis Morissette song.

"Ironic"

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic... dontcha think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... dontcha think

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic... dontcha think
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

"Idiotic"

A young girl watching, weak, indifferent,
As her unhappy, wounded daydream drained away;
The lengthy blade pulsed, heart-steel dripping vivid ichor,
As she turned from faintly live to anonymous grey.
It's just idiotic. Foolish and stupid...

Like George Bush in the White House;
Like the terror far away, within your head;
Any tattooed gangland killing of innocent folk.
Why is it like that anyway? Why, indeed.

A young boy was very pleased to notice
That the kidnapped shotgun just did not kick
As he strained to shoot the fifteenth schoolmate
Who had meanly laughed at his supposedly small dick.
It's just idiotic. Foolish and stupid...

Like George Bush in the White House;
Like the terror far away, within your head;
Any tattooed gangland killing of innocent folk.
Why is it like that anyway? Why, indeed.

Find Death is waiting around every corner
In an unfunny and unfamiliar guise.
And don't you think you've got a future?
No, today, you've got one chance...

A hefty drunken man, unsteady, swaying home;
At the steamy window, his dainty painted wife.
Two noisy hours of nasty fatal fighting later,
Devoted, exhausted, she never saw his vicious knife.
It's just idiotic. Foolish and stupid...

Like George Bush in the White House;
Like the terror far away, within your head;
Any tattooed gangland killing of innocent folk.
Why is it like that anyway? Why, indeed.

Find Death is waiting around every corner
In an unfunny and unfamiliar guise.
And don't you think you've got a future?
No, today, you've got one chance...

An Austrian Army
Alaric A. Watts.

An Austrian army, awfully array'd,
Boldly by battery besiege Belgrade;
Cossack commanders cannonading come,
Deal devastation's dire destructive doom;
Ev'ry endeavour engineers essay,
For fame, for freedom, fight, fierce furious fray.
Gen'rals 'gainst gen'rals grapple,--gracious God!
How honors Heav'n heroic hardihood!
Infuriate, indiscriminate in ill,
Just Jesus, instant innocence instill!
Kinsmen kill kinsmen, kindred kindred kill.
Labour low levels longest, loftiest lines;
Men march 'midst mounds, motes, mountains, murd'rous mines.
Now noisy, noxious numbers notice nought,
Of outward obstacles o'ercoming ought;
Poor patriots perish, persecution's pest!
Quite quiet Quakers -- Quarter, quarter -- quest;
Reason returns, religion, right, redounds,
Suwarrow stop such sanguinary sounds!
Truce to thee, Turkey, terror to thy train!
Unwise, unjust, unmerciful Ukraine!
Vanish vile vengeance, vanish victory vain!
Why wish we warfare? wherefore welcome won
Xerxes, Xantippus, Xavier, Xenophon?
Yield, ye young Yaghier yeomen, yield your yell!
Zimmerman's, Zoroaster's, Zeno's zeal
Again attract; arts against arms appeal.
All, all ambitious aims, avaunt, away!

An Anagram Alliteration
A.J Hickford

An Anagram Alliteration - an abecedarian
Badinage. Brave banter. But barbarian
Craft - clumsiness comes 'cross.
Drear discourse. Detracting, dreadful dross
Ends. Every endeavour eventually
Flops. Froth? Funny? Fuming! Furious! Finesse formed, fully
Get God's great geriatric grammar guide.
He's hirsute; His heav'nly hide
Is incrusted in innocent,
Jocular juxtapositioning! Instead I'll invent;
Kindly keep key knowledge. Kant knew
Latin; later learned language like 'loo'
(Meaning 'micturition mart'). Memories misfire. Measure midsummer's moon,
Now nameless. Neither night nor noon.
Only old onerous oratory, ours,
Piss poor poetry performance. Pause...
Quick! quicker! quite querious quip-quests
Recur; rhythm recurring. Reason: rest.
Scholastic suffixer, success soon sighs
To twisty tangrams. Twit! Two times ten! Thy
Uric unleash'd, unmans universe;
Voice versus vowel. View verminous verse.
Wow! Whether winsome words war with whist?
Xenogamic xenial Xhosan xylophonist!
You yodel! You yabber! You're yowling your yap
Zanily, zestily, zanier! Zaps
Another attempt at "all anagrams aren't
As assuredly arduous as alliterative art."
And so on, and so on...
