Another Blake poem -- Joe F., 10:51:49 08/13/02 Tue

I've tried to take the concept of this poem out of its current setting and put it in the present, thus turning it into a stereotypical teenage sob-story! Enjoy....

(BTW, the source text didn't contain a single U!)

--------------------------------------------------------

Love's Secret

Never seek to tell thy love,
Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind does move
Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love,
I told her all my heart;
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears,
Ah! She did depart!

Soon as she was gone from me,
A traveller came by,
Silently, invisibly
He took her with a sigh.

William Blake

=

Love Stinks

When men reveal loves
Reactions are hard to tell.
One hallmark is it's always either
Blind delight or "Go to Hell!"

Now why do I love her?
Cool as I've ever met!
I cry, belch, it's blindly killing;
Love I'll never get.

My boyhood had bland love,
It half seems to test fate.
Yet I've felt very damn silly;
She's prom-dating my best mate....

It does appear at http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/anagram.cgi?Netscape1.2=Search&anagram=solitude, but that appears to be a mindlessly generated page (and the 'gram is split across two lines at that). I think you can claim this gem, Matjaz - nom seconded.

Actually it isn't much of an anagram really is it! "Good" is only one letter out from "God" and "Evil" is only one letter out from "Devil". I did it mentally whilst lying on the sofa!

Still, glad you liked it even though it barely qualifies as a 'gram IMO!

Hi! I don´t do many anagrams, because I suck at it most of the time. But here are two variations on yours that I found that are quite ok.

>Bloodline = Boo! I´ll end!
Bloodline = Noble idol

>Evolution = In! Love! Out!
Evolution = Out! Live on!

Oh my. That was, well, very clever. A spot on description of the zeitgeist of the western world, innit? :-)

Bush's final speech -- Mey K., 07:15:56 08/08/02 Thu

Below are some (true) samples of Bush's, er, confusing speeches, anagrammed into his final one...

"Well, it's an unimaginable honor to be the president during the Fourth of July of this country. It means what these words say, for starters. The great inalienable rights of our country. We're blessed with such values in America. And I- it's- I'm a proud man to be the nation based upon such wonderful values." (Visiting the Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C., July 2, 2001)

"My administration has been calling upon all the leaders in the- in the Middle East to do everything they can to stop the violence, to tell the different parties involved that peace will never happen." (Crawford, Texas, Aug, 13, 2001)

"And so, in my State of the- my State of the Union- or state- my speech to the nation, whatever you want to call it, speech to the nation- I asked Americans to give 4,000 years- 4,000 *hours* over the next- the rest of your life- of service to America. That's what I asked, 4,000 hours." (Bridgeport, Conn., April 9, 2002)

=

"Ladies or- the others, the gentlemen parts, of the jury. I come before you not as the indicted president of the united stars and stripes, but as an articulating, intertactual man. I'm sure of my flagitious innocence - so positive, I've waived my attorneys goodbye. I've no need for lawmen and their like, people of the jewish- the jury.

First of all, an unruly fact - the war was my idea. No, scratch that- that bit *wasn't* my idea. I'll prove the opponents right on this point. But the events were innocuous. Overall, the millions that perished, these brave servants of the constellation, were *not* efficacious. They mattered. The Afghans were in our hair, and something sternal had to be done.

Last of all, the business-corruption or whatnot. What extravagation! Watch my mouth, folks - I've never handled, examined or *grasped* that issue!

...Your choice is laughingly clear."
