Milton's famous aubade -- Richard Brodie, 11:36:55 06/03/02 Mon

Song On May Morning

Now the bright morning Star, Day's harbinger,
Comes dancing from the East, and leads with her
The Flowry May, who from her green lap throws
The yellow Cowslip, and the pale Primrose.
Hail bounteous May that dost inspire
Mirth and youth, and warm desire,
Woods and Groves, are of thy dressing,
Hill and Dale, doth boast thy blessing.
Thus we salute thee with our early Song,
And welcome thee, and wish thee long.

Hymn On A Spring Twilight

Venus, refulgent herald of the Dawn,
Gambols with blossoms, Wintry gloom be gone!
With Marigolds in bloom, Ah Springtime gay,
The Gardens, Heaths, and Meadows richly spray.
Ah, florid world, the man now stimulate;
So hero, teach fair nymph or wench to mate.
O Heaths and Pastures wear thy heather,
See Goldenrods in sunny weather.
To her we do address our lyric Ode:
An end? Oh let thy transiting be slowed.

Note: This is not an anit-gram that tries to turn an aubade into a nocturne! I had always thought of "twilight" as a reference to evening, however my dictionary defines it as: "the light from the sky between full night and sunrise OR between sunset and full night". The context should make it clear that I am using it as a reference to morning.

Welcome!

"Towers tumble on death heap. The end seen on TV" was posted on the Newsgroup in January, but I can't find your one anywhere so I can only presume it is new. Therefore, it's certainly worth a NOM!

Hmmmm... Even though the meanings of the two 'grams are different, because the keyword is identical I'd consider them to be variants on the same basic idea. So (unless Larry disagrees), sorry Zoran.

A funny poem -- Allan Morley, 13:47:03 05/29/02 Wed

From the Irish
by Ian Duhig

According to Dineen, a Gael unsurpassed
in lexicographical enterprise, the Irish
for moon means 'the white circle in a slice
of half-boiled potato or turnip'. A star
is the mark on the forehead of a beast
and the sun is the bottom of a lake, or well.

Well, if I say to you your face
is like a slice of half-boiled turnip,
your hair is the colour of a lake's bottom
and at the centre of each of your eyes
is the mark of the beast, it is because
I want to love you properly, according to Dineen.

=

Beware the Too Literal!
by Idi Hagun

It is weird: according to the fat dictionary
in the office, 'seeing stars' occurs
if you are clobbered on the head, a 'moon'
is a boorish pair of exposed buttocks and 'sun'
is a coarse tropical fiber similar to hemp.

Therefore, my little one, when I crooned that your hair
is like a heap of the cheap stuff they used
for manufacturing rope, to look into your eyes
is reminiscent of a blow to the skull
and you have a face like an arse,
all I meant... oh all right, I'll sleep on the sofa.

;-)

Allan

P.S. My wife took it well. :-)

This rubbish was cross-posted on the 27th of April to alt.anagrams by 'Nomen Nescio' using Lardy Girl's signature, under the title "Slick slide". I figured an explanation was in need:

Shit i'm getting way to old and fat and slow in my older years
i tried to sneak a quickie in before my old man came home and the friend i was with gave up and left because it takes me so long to get undressed and to get into a position that he can get his dink into me. Ya know having ah gut makes it hard to get laid cause you have to lay on your side with ah leg up over your head or bend your fat guy over a chair and have the guy use both hands to lift your ass up so he can find ah wet hole to stick it in
I've been ass fucked more times then pussy fucked because it was the first hole they could find thanks to not being able to wipe my ass clean after taking a shit helps.

As a way to demystify the above, view this guide of Freud to the Anal Stage:
"So, as the kids get acquainted with the sphincter, they stop sucking thumbs and move on to fumbling poo. The kids begin to notice the innate fun and agony associated with a bowel movement. They will then run amok and poo around the house day after day like dogs, unless taught differently.
However, if the parents are too easy and fail to teach society's rules about poo control, the kid, I assume, will derive a naughty delight from any ass-drainage in the future, which may induce a sick, sadistic behavior and a hideous geekiness, that can someday generate a kinky, bum-poking troll."

Anagrammed Nonsense -- Jaybur, 03:47:24 05/25/02 Sat

[Samuel Foote composed this to test the actor Charles Macklin's claim that he could memorize anything.]

So she went into the garden to cut a cabbage-leaf; to make an apple-pie; and at the same time a great she-bear, coming up the street, pops its head into the shop.
'What! No soap?' So he died, and she very imprudently married the barber; and there were present the Picninnies, and the Joblillies, and the Garyalies, and the grand Panjandrum himself, with the little round button at top,
and they all fell to playing the game of catch-as-catch-can,
till the gunpowder ran out at the heels of their boots.

Grandpa went up into the attic to make some jam. There, under the eaves, he contemplated labelling pots; perhaps in the bathtub. 'Whoopee! Rhubarb!' Just then, he slipped up, and rattled his teeth. So Gran cancelled her bingo, and planned a party night. 'Oh, where's my fancy taffeta dress?' she cried. The family turned up to help taste a cheese garnish. Timothy, a teacher, came, and had an Amontillado; filling the glass, not to the top. What a soiree! Soon, all were inebriated, and tittering too, I bet!

I am a pretty little Dutch girl,
As pretty as I can be.
And all the boys in the neighbourhood
Are crazy over me!
