I also found your version but didn't post it for that very reason, that is was too similar to David's. It is funny though admittedly. If by any chance the NOM is accepted, it's all yours, my fault for not posting it.

[> [> Hang on a sec... Ketelby, or Ketelbey? -- Richard G, 01:57:36 10/15/02 Tue

Ketelbey (2550) beats Ketelby (668) in the Google test. I'd also guess that the couple of sources I found that are bold enough to use "Ketèlbey" know what they're talking about. However, I'm unable to confirm this from offline sources because AK was such a minor composer that none of the reference books I have on hand mention him.

Easily fixed in my 'gram, at least:
Albert William Ketèlbey =
Write my likeable ballet.
[and he did indeed write a Suite de Ballet]

For me, Ketelby's music has great period charm, nicely evoking the era of British silent movies. At its very best, his music is listenable and melodic - but only in small doses. Actually, I didn't intend my anagram to be an antigram at all! To my mind, his greatest crime was to trivialise and bastardize the non-Western musical tradition in pieces like "In a Persian Garden".

You're right: Ketelbey (without an accent)is the more correct spelling, although the variant is so widely used I felt justified in using it for my anagram. With an extra "E" the best I can do is: "Won't deny it's still remarkable, mainly agreeable". Congrats on your anagram: I believe Ketelby wrote ballet music under his Anton Vodorinski pseudonym.

There's a doctoral thesis waiting to be written on the life and work of AK - but not by me!

Very old, I'm afraid.

but extracting "Soviet Union" from "Russian Revolution" is most impressive. A pity the leftovers don't make it easy, about the best I could find was

New navigation system -- Larry Brash, 13:44:07 10/13/02 Sun

You will have noticed that we now have a new navigation system at the top of each page. If you can not see the pull dowm menus, then it means that you have javascripts disabled on your browser.

There is a different script used in the Nomination Archives with a pulldown menu for each year.

Please let me know if you find any pages that are not working, as Ihave not checked every page yet.

It's good but ancient. A good idea is to check your anagrams here:

http://www.anagramgenius.com

and here:

http://www.google.com

before you post them. Admittedly it is very annoying when you found out someone else has already found an anagram, but it happens, especially with short ones.

Does such a thing not already exist - the rude category? In my mind, rude does not have to be sexually offensive, just offensive in any sort of way.
